As you might already know we’ve hit feature freeze and we made beta 1 available last week. After testing it many issues were fixed and improvements were made.
Today we put the beta 2 for Nextcloud 19 online!
For this beta we aim to continue testing stability and have apps in the appstore compatible with Nextcloud 19. We want to make sure that upgrades and day to day usage are smooth and as bug-free as possible. Any other feedback, of course, is welcome!
Nextcloud 19 needs testing, bug reporting, bug fixing and some polishing to be perfect. The best time to get involved is now! Here is a list of pending PR’s you can help us with!
We have our automated tests and it has gotten some basic smoke testing but no test scheme can replace the myriad of ways you all use Nextcloud, on NAS devices to big iron servers!
As details make the difference we can use your help for small UI improvements, fixes to details – and of course bugfixes!
If you are new to Nextcloud, you’re more than welcome to get involved – simply join us on github or check out this page on our website.
Note that translations are very welcome too! We have millions of users and they don’t all read English! Let’s make sure 19 is ready for as big a number of users as possible!
Feedback
We appreciate your feedback too- it is a great way to contribute and we’d love to hear your thoughts on the new features. Get Beta 2, check yourself what’s new and let us know what you think! As a beta, of course, the main aim of beta 2 is not to reveal the new features of Nextcloud 19, it’s a call for help to continue making Nextcloud awesome!
Today, US-based file sync & share vendor Kiteworks announced their acquisition of ownCloud and Dracoon. Kiteworks points out that their customers now have access to their file-sharing application. It is to be expected they will not maintain 3 similar products, but customers will have to migrate to the US firms’ platform or look for another […]
As part of Schleswig-Holstein's state digitization strategy, the state chancellery has announced they will work with Nextcloud to develop AI for working with government documents. This comes just after we announced the first private AI assistant last weekend with Hub 6. The German state already uses Nextcloud and their AI strategy aligns with our work on ethical, local AI technologies.
Over the last year, AI has become a popular topic. Some is hype, some is substance. Some is good, some is bad. We want to give you the good, not the bad, and ignore the hype! AI has a ton of opportunity – but also risk. So we put you in control – off by […]
The serious security flaws in ownCloud (now owned by Kiteworks) do NOT affect Nextcloud. We have strict security processes in place, and do not ship test data from libraries that can cause security breaches.
Minor Nextcloud updates are released, as well as an update to the desktop client.
As always, minor releases include stability and security improvements that are designed to be a safe and quick upgrade.
