October 3, 2020, Berlin – Nextcloud GmbH, provider of the most deployed on-premises content collaboration platform announced at the Nextcloud Conference in Berlin the immediate availability of Nextcloud Hub 20. The new release introduces users to a dashboard with an overview of the day, integrating information from across Nextcloud as well as third party social media, productivity and collaboration platforms like Twitter, Github and Discourse. An unified search provides users information from within Nextcloud as well as third party solutions like Gitlab, Jira and Moodle and Nextcloud Talk 10 enables bridging between a variety of chat services including Slack, MS Teams, Matrix and many more.

The global health crisis has accelerated the need for powerful online communication technology but the haphazard deployments have splintered collaboration within and between organizations and introduced a dizzying array of compliance and data loss risks for IT departments. Nextcloud Hub not only empowers organizations to consolidate their collaboration into a single, secure, on-premises platform but also introduces a range of integrations with internal and external tools operated by an organizations’ supliers, partners and customers.Nextcloud Hub 20 offers a more integrated experience by bringing in information across a range of platforms, allowing users to react faster to new tasks, avoid context switching and plan their time more effectively.

Nextcloud Hub 20 builds on an open API, the Open Collaboration Services, making integration efforts transparent and well documented. The release introduces over 3 dozen integrations with a wide range of solutions. Bridges are introduced between the Nextcloud Talk chat service with Microsoft Teams, Slack, Matrix, IRC, XMPP, Steam and many more. Nextcloud’s integrated, unified search can provide results from ticketing systems like Jira and Zammad, development platforms like Github and Gitlab, e-learning systems like Moodle, forums like Discourse and Reddit, social media like Twitter and Mastodon and more.

Nextcloud Hub 20 further introduces a user status, so users can communicate their availability to colleagues, and notifications were integrated deeper with Activities to simplify tracking of events for users. Many Nextcloud apps including Talk, Deck, Calendar, Mail and Files introduce dashboard widgets and unified search integration.

Talk 10 brings performance and call reliability improvements, introduces an emoji picker and upload view, camera and microphone settings, mute abilities for moderators and more. Deck introduces a modal view for card editing and Calendar integration, while the Calendar introduced a list view and design improvements. Nextcloud Mail introduces extensive mailbox management features, threaded email views and other interface updates. Nextcloud Flow is extended with push notifications and webhooks so other applications can more easily be integrated with Nextcloud work flows. Nextcloud Text introduced direct linking to files in Nextcloud.

In the Nextcloud back-end, a number of performance and security improvements was integrated to enhance responsivity to user activity. Moreover LDAP back-ends can now provide address books and a wide range of design, usability and accessibility improvements was made to Nextcloud.
