  • Open source collaboration software provider has further extended its partner programme and is driving its platform ambitions
  • ISV partner program to help independent software vendors to grow their audience, promote their apps and provide support
  • The number of apps is set to increase tenfold to 6,000

Content collaboration platform Nextcloud has launched a global program for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to connect software providers with customers. The goal is to enable vendors to promote their applications in the Nextcloud App Store, offer subscriptions, and facilitate support and documentation by providing stable, scalable apps with long-term support.

Nextcloud serves as a platform that brings both parties together. The contract is between the developer and the customer, with the developer also responsible for supporting and maintaining the app.

“Nextcloud is more than a company or a product,” said Frank Karlitschek, CEO and founder of Nextcloud. “It’s a platform that we shape together with our community and organizations in our ecosystem. In the next chapter, we want to be good stewards and do more than just offer our app building tools. With the new program, we help independent software vendors grow their audience, promote apps and provide support to their customers via the Nextcloud platform. It’s in our DNA not to lock anyone in – developers included. We want them to grow with us, not depend on us.“

From 600 to 6,000 apps in one year

The aim is to create apps for particular industries or use cases that are currently being developed for individual customers but not yet made widely available. These could include workflow tools for municipalities, compliance apps for regulated industries, or integrations for specific verticals. Currently, there are about 600 apps available for download in the Nextcloud App Store. Within a year, this number is expected to rise to 6,000 thanks to the new ISV partner program.

Customers benefit from a proven, scalable collaboration platform and a growing range of solutions from ISVs without having to make significant investments themselves. Through the ISV partner programme, Nextcloud can collaborate with its partners to provide a variety of new services, further professionalising the platform and broadening the range of enterprise solutions.

Four launch partners in France, Germany and The Netherlands

Nextcloud is actively looking for software providers to join in addition to the four launch partners:

  • VoxCloud from the Netherlands provides, amongst other things, enterprise apps for metadata management and SharePoint-style dashboards.
  • Leviia from France offers scalability components for large Nextcloud deployments
  • HKN from Germany develops apps  centred on AI integration
  • The Dutch company Conduction builds  apps for process tracking and automation for local authorities

There is high demand to participate in the Nextcloud ISV partner Programme,”’ confirms Heike Radtke, VP Marketing and responsible for the whole Nextcloud partner program. “’Ultimately, both sides benefit: as our partners succeed, our platform and our footprint grow too. Partners and ISV developers are therefore a strategic pillar of our business model, and we intend to develop this area significantly in the future.”

To make it easier to participate for developers, Nextcloud updates its developer support strategy, including better APIs and a dedicated Developer Relations team to improve interaction with contributors.

Partner ecosystem grew by almost 300 percent in 2025

Nextcloud revamped its channel partner program in 2025 to boost joint activities significantly, streamlined processes and promote further international expansion. In 20205, Nextcloud’s global partner ecosystem grew by almost 300 percent.

The engagement with partners is part of the commitment of Nextcloud to invest 250 million Euro in digital sovereignty. As part of the initiative, the open source provider seeks to expand its global partner ecosystem and strengthen existing partnerships in order to create an industry-wide movement that allows individuals, private companies, educational institutions and the public sector an easy setup and effortless, secure access to sovereign IT solutions.
