Setting up a Nextcloud All-in-One <\/a>on Windows (or AIO) is a simple, effective way to achieve a full-blown Nextcloud installation with many features working out of the box. It provides you with easy deployment and maintenance of these features while allowing you to keep your data under your control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this blog, you will find the instructions for setting up an All-in-One on Windows 10 and 11. It is compatible with a PC with an x64 CPU with at least 8GB of RAM and 4 cores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before you start<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First, you will need to get a public domain and be able to open ports for the guide to work. Also, make sure that you are not behind CGNAT, as it will not work with that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please also keep in mind that the following instructions are meant for installations without a web server or reverse proxy (like Apache, Nginx, and else) already being in place. If you want to run AIO behind a web server or reverse proxy (like Apache, Nginx, etc.), see the reverse proxy documentation<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that, let’s get started!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Install Docker Desktop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Download Docker for Windows: https:\/\/docs.docker.com\/desktop\/install\/windows-install\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
    \"Install<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    2. Execute the \u00ab\u00a0.exe\u00a0\u00bb and install it. Click on \u00ab\u00a0OK\u00a0\u00bb to continue (WSL2 is recommended).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3. Wait until you see this screen, and click on \u00ab\u00a0Close and restart\u00a0\u00bb to restart the PC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    4. Open \u00ab\u00a0Docker Desktop\u00a0\u00bb, then read through and accept the Terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    5. You should see this pop-up now and follow the link in the pop-up. If the pop doesn’t open, you can find the link here<\/a> directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    6. Click on the first link there (\u00ab\u00a0WSL2 Linux kernel update package for x64 machines\u00a0\u00bb).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    7. Download the wsl_update MSI and install it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    8. Now click on ‘Restart’ to restart Docker Desktop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    11. Next, you might see this pop-up after a while and click on \u00ab\u00a0Skip tutorial\u00a0\u00bb to skip it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    12. Finally, Docker Desktop is ready, and you should see this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    13. Make sure that Docker Desktop starts automatically when you log in by ticking the first value in the settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    14. Make sure to enable IPv6 support for Docker. You can follow this documentation<\/a> if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Install AIO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    After you’ve successfully completed installing Docker Desktop, you can move on to installing your AIO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Now open the command prompt:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. Start AIO with this command:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    docker run ^\n--sig-proxy=false ^\n--name nextcloud-aio-mastercontainer ^\n--restart always ^\n--publish 80:80 ^\n--publish 8080:8080 ^\n--publish 8443:8443 ^\n--volume nextcloud_aio_mastercontainer:\/mnt\/docker-aio-config ^\n--volume \/\/var\/run\/docker.sock:\/var\/run\/docker.sock:ro ^\n-e NEXTCLOUD_DATADIR=\"\/run\/desktop\/mnt\/host\/c\/ncdata\" ^\nghcr.io\/nextcloud-releases\/all-in-one:latest<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
    Make sure to adjust \/run\/desktop\/mnt\/host\/c\/ncdata<\/code> to your needs. This path is equivalent to C:\\ncdata on your Windows host so you need to translate the path accordingly. Hint: the path that you enter needs to start with \/run\/desktop\/mnt\/host\/. Append to that the exact location on your Windows host, e.g. c\/ncdata<\/code> which is equivalent to C:\\ncdata<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    3. Then you can open the AIO interface at https:\/\/localhost:8080<\/code>. \u26a0\ufe0f Important: Always use an IP address or localhost if you access this port and not a domain, as HSTS might block access to it later! You need to accept the Self-Signed certificate, and then you should see this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    4. Click on Open Nextcloud AIO login<\/code> and paste in your password:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    5. Now you should finally see the AIO dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    6. Next, type in your public domain that you set up before starting this guide. The interface should help you figure out the exact steps. (Set up DDNS for your domain to point to your public IP, port-forward at least ports 443\/tcp and 3478\/udp and 3478\/tcp to your Windows machine.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    7. After you’ve set it up correctly, it should allow you to pass to the next step, where you can configure the wanted optional addons and the timezone, and click on Start containers to download and start them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    8. Now you should see a spinner that will take a while (depending on your internet speed, around 10 minutes or more).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    9. When all containers are downloaded and started, you will see this screen showing the containers still starting, which will do the first install for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    11. You can now open your new Nextcloud instance and log in with the given admin credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    12. You should also open the Backup and restore<\/code> section type in a path like e.g. \/run\/desktop\/mnt\/host\/c\/backup<\/code> and submit it. This path is equivalent to C:\\backup<\/code> on your Windows host so you need to translate the path accordingly. Hint: the path that you enter needs to start with \/run\/desktop\/mnt\/host\/<\/code>. Append to that the exact location on your Windows host, e.g. c\/backup<\/code> which is equivalent to C:\\backup<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
    That’s it! Now everything is set up and ready for production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
