Nextcloud recently gained two further European security certifications as well as an extensive reference DPIA. This clears the way for public sector organisations, as well as those in regulated industries, to meet the highest compliance standards without any futher invest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The French national cybersecurity authority ANSSI (Agence nationale de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des syst\u00e8mes d\u2019information), has awarded Nextcloud the CSPN (Certification de S\u00e9curit\u00e9 de Premier Niveau). By doing so, ANSSI has certified that Nextcloud Files offers a high level of resilience against cyberattacks. To this end, the agency subjected Nextcloud Files to extensive vulnerability and penetration tests and was unable to identify any vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most common certifications like SOC2 or BSI C5 cover operations rather than software in isoliation, reviewing processes around securely managing hosted software. Nextcloud&#8217;s enterprise partners thus often feature common certifications customers look for. Recently, public sector IT service provider Dataport made available a Nextcloud service that is operated within a German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) IT-Grundschutz-certified environment. While the Nextcloud instance itself is not directly part of the certification scope, its operation is embedded in Dataport\u2019s ISMS and follows the strict security requirements of the BSI. This enables public sector organizations to benefit from a highly secure and compliant workspace, supporting their efforts towards digital sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>European-recognised security certifications<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These two certifications are not limited to their countries of origin. The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) officially recognises CSPN, equating it with the Accelerated Security Certification (BSZ). CSPN and BSZ are also both equivalent to Europe&#8217;s EN 17640 and are therefore fully compatible with the European Union&#8217;s Cybersecurity Act (CSA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BSI IT-Grundschutz, on the other hand, is based on the internationally recognised ISO 27001 standard and is therefore recognised throughout Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this month, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surf.nl\/en\/news\/dpia-on-nextcloud-enterprise-software-15-low-or-solved-risks\"><u>results <\/u><\/a>of an comprehensive Data Protection Impact Assesment (DPIA) by The Privacy Company, a Europe-focused privacy and compliance specialist, was published with \u00abgreen light\u00bb for privacy-sensitive organizations. The published reference DPIA, commissioned by the Dutch higher education cooperative SURF, includes practical advice on the implementation of Nextcloud in highly compliance-critical use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nextcloud is fundamentally designed so that Nextcloud GmbH does not have any access to customer data, removing the need for a data processor or controller agreement under the General Data Protection Regulation&nbsp;(GDPR) or similar legislation. This way, the self-hosted <a href=\"https:\/\/nextcloud.com\/enterprise\/\"><u>Nextcloud Enterprise<\/u><\/a> platform simplifies compliance, decreasing business risk and costs.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nextcloud.com\/enterprise\/\"><u>Nextcloud Enterprise<\/u><\/a> is designed with privacy in mind. Supporting compliance with standards such as GDPR, CCPA, US Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), FERPA, COPPA, several ISO certifications and many others is possible with Nextcloud Enterprise.
